Update for Tuesday, 15 February 2011

When doing Android development on Eclipse 3.6, content assist feature is sometimes super-slow. Say, you type:

    TextView title = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.title);
    title.set

As you type the dot, Eclipse helpfully fires up Content Assist pop-up with possible completions, and then chokes for 5-10 seconds. That’s quite irritating, as you can imagine. And turns out, there’s a workaround!

Worked like a charm for me. While in sharpening-my-axe mood, I also took time to tweak eclipse.ini a bit, but it’s hard to say yet if there’s significant improvement.

It’s still cold around here.
